BFA Thesis Project: Curl Ease 2024
As a graphic designer, I thrive on versatility, drawing inspiration from influential artists like Paula Scher and Rebecca Sugar to approach each project with an open mind. My diverse skill set, honed through constant study and practice, encompasses a wide range of design elements including illustration, typography, color theory, and composition. This broad comprehension enables me to tailor my approach for every project, creating visual stories that resonate with viewers. This thesis project delves into the intricacies of creating a curly hair-care brand for kids, motivated by my deep interest in illustration and graphic design. No two heads of hair are the same, which is why Curl Ease offers customized solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of each child's hair type. Whether it's wavy, curly, or coily, Curl Ease has products designed to nourish, hydrate, and style with ease. With Curl Ease, parents can feel confident knowing that they have the tools, resources, and support they need to care for their children's hair with ease and expertise. By combining the disciplines of illustration and graphic design, I was able to not only fill a void in the market but also to educate and empower parents about proper hair care practices. Through meticulous attention to detail in linework, thoughtful selection of typography, strategic use of color, and research on different hair type needs, I crafted a brand identity that speaks to the unique needs of curly-haired kids while promoting inclusivity and representation. Projects like this offer a multifaceted approach to design, welcoming, and even championing diversity for positive change in the world. By leveraging the power of visual communication, I strive to make meaningful contributions to both the design community and society as a whole.
